Creality CubeMe: AI tool converts photos into 3D-printable figures

3D printer manufacturer Creality is expanding its cloud offering with a new AI-powered model creation tool. With CubeMe, the company is providing a tool that generates a 3D model based on a single photo, which can then be used directly for 3D printing. The offering is integrated into the Creality Cloud and is aimed at users who want to create personalized models without traditional CAD work.
The starting point for CubeMe is a simple photo upload. According to Creality, a single image of a person is sufficient. The system first processes this into a two-dimensional, stylized representation. In the next step, the software generates a three-dimensional image from this, which is then converted into a 3D model. This model can then be downloaded or prepared directly for printing. The entire process is cloud-based and does not require any local modeling software.
A central element of CubeMe is the selection of different styles. Users can specify in advance how the figure should look. The options include cartoon-like, chibi-like, or more realistic representations. Thematic variants, such as those with seasonal references, are also planned. The choice of style influences both the visual appearance of the intermediate stages and the final geometry of the 3D model.
Technically, CubeMe relies on the automated conversion of image information into a three-dimensional form. The tool does not replace precise modeling, but aims to create simplified figures with clear shapes. The models generated are particularly suitable for small figures, so-called mini-me models, which can be produced on standard FFF or resin printers.
