However, they hide two distinctly different technical timelines.

On August 14, 2026, the China National Intellectual Property Administration published three 3D printing invention patents from Bambu Lab, all filed on June 30, 2026.

Patent 1: "Duct Lighting" for AI Vision Monitoring

This patent integrates lighting components into the toolhead's air duct and uses a black/white layered light-guiding design. It saves space while providing stable illumination for AI monitoring, avoiding camera overexposure. No current commercial model has this structure, suggesting it may be a preemptive technology for an unreleased new toolhead.

Patents 2 and 3: The "Parking Lot" and "Hand-off" of a Multi-Nozzle System

These two "cradle" patents are essentially the foundation and upgrade of the H2C Vortek hot-swap system. They claim priority from November 6, 2025, earlier than the H2C launch date. One of them describes a compact arrangement that can hold 9 printheads (corresponding to 10 nozzles).

Key design highlights:

· Three-axis positioning lock: Using positioning components along X, Y, and Z axes to ensure the printhead stops firmly and engages accurately during swapping.
· Combined motion for speed: Merging the "unlock" and "place" actions into one, reducing swap time and preventing the printhead from hanging loose.
· Tilted magnetic attraction: The magnetic surface is angled 15°–40° relative to the assembly direction, achieving a light touch during insertion and a firm hold once seated.

Timeline interpretation: Foundation laid, new platform on the way

The base designs of the two cradle patents were locked just 12 days before H2C's launch. The formal 2026 filings incorporate improvements from the following six months, such as dense arrangement and combined actions, pointing to a higher-capacity swap system. The toolhead patent, as a separate new filing, reveals the development direction of a new toolhead platform. The rapid publication of these three patents (just 1.5 months) shows that Bambu Lab is accelerating its next-generation product roadmap. The multi-nozzle battle is just getting started.
