Leisurewear brand installs fixtures using recycled materials and designed by circular production platform Aectual

Lululemon has integrated a custom 3D printed ceiling and storefront system into key retail locations worldwide, including Milan and New York’s SoHo neighborhood, with Birmingham and Tokyo to follow.
The architectural elements were developed in partnership with Dutch design and manufacturing firm Aectual, and reflect the brand’s visual identity through sculptural, double-curved surfaces
The panels were produced using large-scale additive manufacturing and connected without visible seams, creating a modular system of continuous surfaces that wrap interior spaces in flowing, three-dimensional forms.
The system was produced using a proprietary printing technique developed by Aectual to produce the double-curved architectural panels at scale. Each installation was parametrically designed to fit specific store layouts while maintaining visual consistency across regions.
All components were manufactured from a recycled consumer waste material blend and integrated into Aectual’s circular service program, which enabled panels to be reclaimed and reprinted into new architectural products at end of life. The materials met interior application standards, including fire-retardant and UV-stable certifications tailored to local building codes.
The Milan and SoHo installations marked the system’s debut, and additional rollouts are underway in Asia and Europe, with each store receiving a site-specific configuration designed to balance brand identity with architectural context.
The circular design philosophy is one that’s gaining growing traction in the architectural space, with many firms implementing recyclable materials and installations that can be reprocessed into different forms at later stages.
voxelmatters.com recently reported on US company Circdal, which is using rPETG WF – a blend of 97% recycled PETG plastic and reclaimed wood fibers – in its panels, and German firm NDC, which is operating a similar system.
