BIO INX has entered into a distribution partnership with Yamato Scientific to expand its bioprinting business in Japan.

Belgian bio-ink developer BIO INX, dedicated to providing advanced materials for 3D bioprinting, has signed a distribution agreement with Japan's Yamato Scientific Co., Ltd. Under the agreement, Yamato Scientific will incorporate BIO INX's bioprinting materials into its research equipment portfolio. This collaboration marks BIO INX's official entry into the Japanese market and is part of its broader global expansion strategy.
The agreement was finalized following a trade mission to Japan led by Matthias Diependaele, Minister-President of the Flanders region, and organized by Flanders Investment & Trade. During the visit, BIO INX engaged with several potential partners and ultimately identified Yamato Scientific as its strategic distribution partner for the region.

Jasper Van Hoorick, CEO of BIO INX, stated, "To expand our business in Japan, we participated in the recent trade mission to actively seek local partners who could support our growth. We connected with Yamato Scientific, a company that places high value on scientific innovation and has a growing interest in the 3D bioprinting field."

Headquartered in Tokyo and founded in 1889, Yamato Scientific provides laboratory and research equipment to scientific research institutions and industrial laboratories. The company's move into the bioprinting field aligns with its broader strategy of supporting emerging life science technologies.

Takashi Sawashima of Yamato Scientific commented, "BIO INX's innovative bio-inks present us with a unique opportunity. Their materials offer cross-technology compatibility, suitable for various printing methods—from extrusion-based printing to high-resolution light-based printing technologies. As we expand into the bioprinting field, adding these products to our portfolio is crucial."

Both companies stated that this distribution partnership will enable researchers and developers in Japan to access BIO INX's materials more conveniently, thereby supporting applications in regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, and broader life science fields. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
