V3D Asia builds Brunei's first 3D-printed public facilities, a prayer hall and toilet, set to open in December 2025.

V3D Asia, a Japanese construction tech company tackling housing and public building challenges with 3D printing, has announced the completion of Brunei Darussalam's first 3D-printed public facilities: a "Prayer Hall" and a "Public Toilet." These structures, set to open to the public in December 2025, mark a national first.
This government-led project was constructed as official public infrastructure, fully compliant with local building codes. It stands as an advanced international case proving the practical viability of 3D printers and printing technology in construction.
The completed facilities cover approximately 232 sqm (Prayer Hall) and 82 sqm (Public Toilet), both being the first of their kind built by 3D printing in Brunei. In response to global issues like severe housing shortages, construction labor shortages, and rising material costs, V3D Asia offers a sustainable solution. This combines their proprietary 3D construction printer with a "special additive technology" that optimizes locally sourced, standard concrete materials for 3D printing.
A major barrier to traditional 3D-printed construction has been the frequent need for expensive specialty mortar or imported materials, hindering cost-effectiveness and logistics. V3D Asia's key strength lies in its ability to transform affordable, locally available mortar into a high-performance building material optimal for 3D printing simply by adding its proprietary additive. This technology enabled a mix suited to Brunei's climate and material properties, successfully constructing public facilities that achieve a high balance of quality, durability, and workability.
Following the public opening in December, these facilities will begin operation as practical infrastructure for citizens. This project symbolizes the transition of 3D-printed construction from the "experimental phase" to the "practical phase." With this successful model, V3D Asia plans to accelerate commercial housing and public building projects across Southeast Asia, starting with a large-scale housing development in Batam Island, Indonesia, followed by expansions into Malaysia, Vietnam, and other countries.
