Phase3D introduced a new generation of Fringe Inspection hardware on October 27, designed for integration into laser powder bed fusion machines. The company says the redesign replaces an assembly of off-the-shelf components with purpose-built hardware intended for wider OEM and fleet deployment.

The package combines a custom projector with an industrial PC, GPU, memory and internal storage in a passively cooled aluminum enclosure. M12 connections handle camera data, power, networks and inputs and outputs. Four hardware trigger channels accept 5–24 V signals; software, distance-sensor and light-sensor triggering are also described.

Fringe Inspection projects structured light onto the build surface to generate quantitative height measurements for individual layers. Engineers can use these data to investigate powder-bed changes and measure surface anomalies. Surface-height measurements should not be treated as a complete inspection of a finished part’s internal condition.

The announcement emphasizes integration and repeatable deployment. It does not provide a price, shipment date, installed-fleet count or independent performance results for the redesigned hardware.
