Precision Resource and 3D Systems announced on October 28 that construction is starting on two metal additive manufacturing locations in Huntington Beach, California, and Shelton, Connecticut. The companies expect the facilities to begin operating in the first quarter of 2027.

The Huntington Beach project will add a second additive manufacturing location and is intended to double the site’s existing industrial AM capacity. Shelton will gain its first AM location, with room for further expansion as demand develops. These are planned capacity additions, rather than facilities already in production.

Precision Resource is adding DMP Flex 350 Triple systems to its existing DMP 350 fleet. The expansion also includes in-house heat treatment and additional complex machining, aiming to connect printing with subsequent processing for commercial and defense customers.

The announcement does not specify the investment value, machine quantities or an absolute annual production capacity. Its expected opening date and future capacity benefits remain company projections.
