Austrian startup AKEMI uses 3D-printed optical fiber technology to bring natural sunlight indoors, creating a healthy lighting environment.

The company combines continuous fiber multi-material technology with the CFFP (collision-free fiber placement) process to safely manipulate glass optical fibers, along with materials such as metal wires and light-guiding polymers, to print unique luminaires and light sculptures.
Its core vision is to capture sunlight using a "sunlight cup" optical collector, then conduct it into indoor spaces via 3D-printed optical fibers, creating a natural, soothing atmosphere.
AKEMI has already completed technical proof-of-concept and is now seeking investment to drive commercialization, with plans to launch personalized lighting products and flagship projects within five years. This innovation has the potential to disrupt indoor light environment design and lead a new architectural aesthetic.
