Additive Industries and Materialise have released a software update that integrates with Magics and expands control over MetalFab build preparation and scan strategies.

Additive Industries has made a new build processor available to MetalFab customers, introducing faster preparation of production files and additional controls for industrial metal 3D printing. The Eindhoven-based manufacturer announced the release with software partner Materialise on October 21, 2026.

In a benchmark reported by the company, preprocessing took six minutes with the new software, compared with 46 minutes using Classic Build Processor 2.6. The announcement attributes the reduction to multiprocessing and changes to the underlying algorithms. This result concerns a particular preparation test; it does not establish that every print job or complete manufacturing cycle will become faster by the same proportion.

The update also enables advanced functions developed for the MetalFab 420K platform. These include balancing work between lasers, adjusting beam diameter for different vector types and providing more detailed control over exposure strategies.

For operators, the transition connects to the existing Materialise Magics workflow for preparing, configuring and submitting builds. Users can import profiles from the Classic Build Processor rather than configuring every setting again.

The release states that the software is available immediately to MetalFab customers. It does not announce a public price or quantify production gains across all applications.
