HP has unveiled the new compact Multi Jet Fusion 3D printer – the MJF 1200 – at the Rapid+TCT show in Boston.

This is the smallest MJF system in years, and the company says it is “smaller, faster, cheaper, and easier to use.” Expected to launch in 2027, the printer will be priced at approximately $60,000 – far lower than the $100,000 starting price of traditional MJF systems.
The MJF 1200 has a build volume of 12 liters (compared to 41 liters on standard MJF), but its core technology is identical to HP’s industrial‑grade MJF. The system features automated workflows for material mixing, print preparation, and part unpacking, significantly reducing manual labor. On the software side, it runs Magics Print, powered by Materialise. An HP product lead said, “The parts you get from the MJF 1200 are no different from those produced on an industrial printer.” A single print run of functional parts takes less than 12 hours.
An even bigger innovation comes in the form of service offerings. HP has partnered with the global manufacturing platform Craftcloud to launch the “HP 3D Printing Service Portal.” Even if you don’t own a printer, you can upload files through this portal and connect with HP‑certified MJF service providers to quickly obtain professional‑grade parts. Customers who purchase the MJF 1200 also get a double benefit: a 20% discount (up to $1,000) on orders placed through the portal, and 20% of their order value (up to a maximum of $10,000) can be applied toward the purchase of the printer.
In addition, HP announced upgrades to the Jet Fusion 5600 series: a new high‑productivity mode (increasing throughput by 20%), compatibility with PA12 glass bead material, and a “dual‑tone technology” (expected by the end of 2026) that enables printing in white and gray two‑tone colors. The Metal Jet platform also adds new materials including copper, nickel‑based superalloy N247LC, and tungsten carbide cobalt.
Having spent a decade in the additive manufacturing field, HP’s latest combination of hardware and services aims to bring industrial‑grade 3D printing truly into every workshop.
