Limited edition priced at €950 pays homage to the 1985 original with a modern twist

Rudy Project is releasing Performance 40, a commemorative edition inspired by the company’s first Performance frame from 1985. The model carries the brand’s historic logo and is capped at 100 units globally. The company positions the piece as a bridge between its early performance eyewear and current manufacturing capabilities rooted in Treviso. Pricing is set at €950.
The frame centers on a 3D printed titanium lattice that reduces weight while maintaining rigidity. The openwork structure is produced with micrometer-level tolerances and is not derived from traditional injection molds. Each unit is engineered and assembled in Italy rather than outsourced, aligning with the company’s stated focus on domestic production.
Sisma, a specialist in metalworking machines, including metal LPBF 3D printers for the jewelry and dentistry sectors, provided the printing capabilities, and the Performance 40 was on display at Sisma’s booth during the recent MIDO Eyewear fair in Milan.
Every Performance 40 comes in an exclusive collector’s box, crafted to celebrate Rudy Project’s 40-year legacy. The elegant case combines modern sophistication with subtle references to the brand’s original 1985 colors, making it a true work of design in its own right. Inside, the frame is protected by a custom Tech Protector box, ensuring maximum care and preservation.
