China’s production of 3D printing devices increased 62.5% year on year in January–September 2026, according to figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics on October 19.

The cumulative output measure provides an official indicator of manufacturing activity in the sector. In the same release, production of lithium-ion batteries rose 39.5%, while industrial robot output increased 29.1%. These are growth rates for different product categories, rather than comparable unit totals.

Across industry, value added at enterprises above the designated size grew 5.3%. Equipment manufacturing and high-tech manufacturing recorded increases of 10.2% and 14.3%, respectively.

The release does not provide an absolute production total or a breakdown of 3D printing devices by technology. Production growth should not be read as an equivalent increase in sales, export demand or industry revenue.
