Weld Australia has become an Associate Partner of the Additive Manufacturing Cooperative Research Centre (AMCRC), according to an announcement published by the centre on October 20, 2026.

The arrangement is intended to connect welding and fabrication businesses with co-funded research, technical partners and workforce training as metal additive manufacturing expands into production.

Weld Australia will contribute expertise in welding engineering, qualification, certification, standards and training. The announcement identifies defence, maritime, infrastructure, resources and energy as potential areas of application.

AMCRC is supported by A$57.5 million in Australian Government funding. This is funding for the wider centre, rather than a newly announced grant to Weld Australia. The statement does not specify a separate financial allocation, equipment purchase or production contract for this partnership.

The organisations also plan to support industry events in Adelaide, including the Additive Manufacturing Forum on October 28–29, 2026.
