September 26, 2025      Materials      135

From September 25th to 28th, Arkema, a global leader in specialty materials design, has been invited once again to showcase at the 2025 World Design Cities Conference (WDCC 2025) at booth C5.

This year's exhibition, themed "Arkema's Rendezvous Through the Four Seasons," vividly illustrates how Arkema's innovative material designs seamlessly integrate into the rhythms of spring, summer, autumn, and winter, connecting diverse life scenarios. Through the "Arkema Answers" initiative, both the design industry and the public will gain a clearer understanding of how sustainable innovative materials make high-quality daily living accessible and enrich human experiences.
Global warming is accelerating, and in the face of increasingly severe climate challenges, Arkema has stepped beyond the framework of traditional business exhibitions at this event. The company aims to encourage the public to adopt a low-carbon and comfortable lifestyle, working together to cool the planet.
Inspired by the four seasons, Arkema's booth offers visitors an immersive experience: lightweight, fully recyclable sports equipment injects vitality into spring; clean energy and environmental purification technologies create a cool and livable space for summer; high-performance battery materials ensure efficient and safe autumn travels; and eco-friendly, durable building materials bring lasting warmth to homes during the harsh winter.
As the seasons cycle, nature remains Arkema's constant source of design inspiration. Using renewable castor seeds, Arkema has developed high-performance bio-based materials. This plant does not compete with food or feed crops and does not contribute to deforestation.

At the center of the booth, visitors can see the flagship material Rilsan® PA11, which is 100% derived from castor seeds. With a carbon footprint as low as 1.3 kg CO₂e/kg—approximately 80% lower than traditional petroleum-based polyamides—it is widely used in sports equipment, automotive, and new energy sectors. After fulfilling their purpose, these materials can be recycled and re-enter the value chain, ushering in a new "spring" and truly embodying a cycle of taking from nature and giving back to it.

To help the public better understand the causes of climate change and the everyday actions they can take, Arkema also launched the "Climate Puzzle" challenge at the exhibition. The activity attracted numerous visitors to stop and participate, deepening their understanding and support for climate action through an engaging puzzle game.
Arkema firmly believes that industrial design is not an inaccessible technical symbol but is deeply rooted in everyone's daily life. The lifestyle choices we make today are quietly reshaping the planet's tomorrow.
