The "Flowing Rhymes" seating is a pioneering 3D-printed concrete work for Taiwan, its design reflecting Meinong's aquatic landscape.

Flowing Rhymes used robotic 3D printing to create this unique public landscape seating that is designed based on the imagery of water, an element that is dear to the Meinong district.

While the world's most developed countries have already applied concrete 3D printing technology in building construction, Taiwan is a late starter. The country's first robotic-arm 3D concrete printer was co-developed in 2016 by Professors Yu-Ting Sheng and Shih-Yuan Wang of the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology.

After several years of optimisation, it was not until 2023 that the technology was first applied to actual large-scale works. Flowing Rhymes marks the first large-scale concrete 3D-printed street furniture in Taiwan, opening up a new possibility for public street furniture.

The Meinong district was named after the abundant water resources in the area. Flowing Rhymes is conceptualised based on the image of ripples caused by water droplets, and the seating's materialisation cements such a moment. Its parterres, curving seats, and landscaping allow visitors to immerse themselves in the gardens and the waters while admiring and experiencing the landscaping work.
