Issey Miyake Eyes has released UROKO, a pair of 3D printed sunglasses built around eight concave lenses, as part of its men's Spring Summer 2026 collection titled Dancing Texture.

Eschewing traditional flat lenses, the eyewear divides its optical structure into four concave lenses per side, arranged sequentially along each arm of the frame. The design drew inspiration from the work of Shoji Kamoda, one of Japan's most celebrated potters, whose ceramics are characterized by repetition and surface variation.
Each lens features a concave inward curve rather than a convex outward one—a structural choice that allows the lenses to sit closely together within the frame. This approach creates a curvature that makes the lenses wearable while giving the glasses their sculptural aesthetic. The temples fold conventionally and are available in dark gray and brown.

3D Printing and Hand-Finishing for Authentic Ceramic Texture

Following the printing process, each frame undergoes a finishing stage that preserves visible surface irregularities rather than smoothing them away.
This deliberate imperfection directly references Kamoda's ceramics—in his work, no surface is uniform, and each UROKO frame carries slight variations as a result of the same approach. Up close, the frame surface has a sheen consistent with glazed ceramic objects.
The collection follows the brand's GRIT collection, released late last year, which was 3D printed using plant-based oil-derived materials. That range also featured a deliberately uneven surface finish with a grainy feel, which the brand described as "tactile sensations [that] create a natural bond between the material and the body."
