100 3D Printers Storm Lenovo Stores for Hands-On Play

On September 10, Lenovo and Creality brought the “100 Stores, Hands-On Play” campaign offline: 100 Creality 3D printers have moved into Lenovo stores across China.

Starting today, people can try them hands-on, with more ways to play to be unlocked on September 15. This is not just a display; it is a step from online co-creation to offline experience.

Previously, the two companies held three rounds of the “Lenovo Unbounded, Creality Made Tangible” tablet 3D creative accessory design competition. Focusing on products such as the Legion Y700, it called for printable accessories for cooling, controls, storage, desk setup, and other e-sports use cases. The pathway from user design to rapid prototyping and small-batch trial production has already been proven. Some winning ideas have entered prototyping, real-world testing, and incubation evaluation, while others are preparing for crowdfunding.

Why Lenovo stores? Creality has opened more than ten offline experience stores in China and, through a partnership with JD Home, has entered 68 stores. Lenovo has even more stores, reaching from first-tier cities to prefecture-level cities, and consumer electronics users overlap heavily with the potential audience for 3D printing. With 100 machines in place, the barrier to trying 3D printing drops to “print one while browsing a computer market.” Policy is also promoting digital consumption and the supply of desktop-grade 3D printers, and consumer-grade 3D printing is moving from a geek toy to a mass-market product.

For 3D printing to reach the mainstream, experience is ultimately what matters. Watching a hundred videos online is not as good as printing one object yourself. From its flagship store and JD Home to Lenovo stores, Creality follows the same logic: let people play first, then buy. Lenovo pairs AI tablets with 3D printing experiences, making its stores more fun to visit and turning the partnership into a tangible scenario.
