Artec Studio Lite uses AI-powered photogrammetry to create 3D models from photos, making it ideal for starting with 3D printing.

With Artec Studio Lite, Artec 3D expands its software portfolio with a more streamlined variant aimed at users who want to create 3D models exclusively from photos and videos. The focus is on photogrammetry with AI-assisted reconstruction algorithms that do not require dedicated scanners, making it particularly suitable for getting started with 3D printing.
The new edition is based on the well-known Pro version but omits hardware-bound scanning workflows. Instead, it processes image and video data from smartphones, cameras, or drones. According to the manufacturer, this enables the reconstruction of geometries relevant for printing with high dimensional accuracy. Integrated scaling functions are designed to capture deviations in the sub-millimeter range, which is especially interesting for test fits, spare parts, or reverse-engineering tasks.
Technically, Artec Studio Lite relies on automated pipelines that largely handle image selection, texturing, and mesh generation on their own. The software prioritizes sharp captures and does not require manual masking, simplifying the capture process. Even with challenging surfaces such as dark or glossy materials, the manufacturer promises stable results—an aspect that often proves limiting in photogrammetry.
“With AI Photogrammetry, we’ve rolled out a game-changing feature for creating exceptionally lifelike 3D models. Now, with Artec Studio Lite we’re taking this technology even further and making it accessible to a wider audience,” said Art Yukhin, President & CEO of Artec 3D. “We’re also very excited to see what makers and engineers across industries can do with our all-in-one, reimagined solution, Artec Studio Pro.”
For 3D printing, tools for mesh editing and export preparation in common formats are available. This allows models to be transferred directly into slicers or CAD systems.
“As our slogan says, ‘The power is in the software’,” added Yukhin. “Artec Studio Lite is a self-sufficient, powerful solution for anyone who needs accurate digital twins. Whether for science, education, heritage preservation, forensics, CGI, or e-commerce, all you need is a camera, smartphone, drone, or even a microscope, together with Artec Studio Lite, to create ultra-realistic 3D models.”
