From its relocation in 1999 to its return in 2026—27 years apart—this urban memory of the people of Longquanyi has come back renewed.

On the evening of September 3, 2026, by the "Yitai Hefeng" scenic spot on the shore of Dong'an Lake in Chengdu, a 3D-printed sculpture of the "Peach Blossom Fairy," standing about 5 meters tall, was officially completed.
This was not a simple replica, but a reimagining rooted in the city's collective memory. The project was undertaken by a local enterprise deeply rooted in Longquanyi—Chengdu Jinshi Youzhi Technology, the Southwest headquarters of Jinshi 3D. Traditional stone carving would have taken far too long, and fiberglass had limitations in both environmental friendliness and detail reproduction. 3D printing became the key to breaking through.
The technical team adopted a hybrid process combining FGF pellet printing and FDM filament printing: FGF was used for the main body and large components to ensure efficiency and strength, while FDM handled fine details. The sculpture itself stands about 5 meters tall, with a cloud base roughly 2.5 meters in diameter. The digital model was split into 15 parts, all printed within about 5 days. Post-processing—assembly, sanding, and painting—took about 10 days, followed by 1 day for installation. From printing to completion: just 16 days.
Compared with traditional methods, 3D printing enables a fully digitalized and automated process, boosting efficiency by about 30% and reducing finished weight by roughly 40%. The polymer composite material is eco-friendly, recyclable, and resistant to heat, low temperatures, corrosion, and weathering—ensuring outdoor durability. The figure's expression, the folds of her garments, and the texture of the petals are all rendered with fine detail.
This marks another successful application of Jinshi 3D's large-scale 3D printing in empowering urban landmarks. Previously, its technology was used in projects such as the replica of the Guishan Warship on Guishan Island in Zhuhai, the Deyang urban landmark cluster, and the giant main torch tower at the opening ceremony of the 15th National Games. To date, the company has completed over 200 large-scale cultural and creative sculptures, among which the hydrangea sculpture at Enshi Daughter City has a largest single unit exceeding 30 meters.
From the old square to Dong'an Lake, the Peach Blossom Fairy has returned across 27 years, awakening a city's memory and revealing new possibilities for combining 3D printing with public spaces.
