On May 9, 2026, the “3D Printed Toys” small commodity group standard, led by the Yiwu Toy Industry Association and primarily drafted by Jinqi Technology (China), was officially released.

This is the first product standard for 3D printed toys in China, filling a gap in this field and establishing rules for the rapidly growing “3D printing farm” industry.
3D printed toys have quickly gained popularity thanks to advantages such as personalized customization and the ability to form complex geometries in one piece. In particular, the distributed production model represented by “3D printing farms” has seen explosive growth. However, the lack of industry standards has led to issues in some products, including visible layer lines, leftover support marks, dimensional deviations, poor assembly fit, and insufficient drop resistance. The new standard systematically defines key technical indicators, including product appearance, assembly quality, stability, drop resistance, heat resistance, color fastness, and safety performance. Review experts agreed that this standard fully considers the characteristics of 3D printing processes, is highly targeted, meets domestic consumer quality requirements, aligns with international trade norms, and has strong practical guidance value.
The main drafting company, Jinqi Technology, has equipped 8,000 machines, with a daily production capacity of 100,000 pieces and annual exports exceeding 40 million pieces, providing a solid industrial foundation and validation data for the standard’s development. This standard enriches the national standard system for children’s and student products (which already includes over 220 standards) and also serves as a “Zhejiang model” for the standardized development of China’s 3D printed toy industry. Next steps include carrying out training, promotion, and demonstration activities in Yiwu, Ningbo, and other locations, so that consumers can buy and use these products with confidence.
The release of this first group standard marks a key step for 3D printed toys, moving from “enthusiast-driven” to “industrial maturity.”
