Vienna-based design studio Sheyn (meaning "beautiful" in Yiddish) has been dedicated to bringing aesthetic value to everyday objects through 3D printing since 2016.

Founded by architect-turned-designer Nicolas Gold and Markus Schaffer, the studio infuses architectural language into small items, creating a series of vases, fruit bowls, planters, table lamps, and more—which they call "micro-architecture."
All products are made using desktop FDM 3D printers and PLA (polylactic acid), a bio-based, biodegradable material. PLA comes from renewable resources, making it environmentally sustainable. The studio insists on in-house production, allowing rapid design iteration and consistent high quality. Currently, they offer over 45 designs, each available in 14 solid colors, plus five gradient options in the "color blend" series. Customers can purchase through their Vienna physical store, online shop, and global partners such as the MoMA Design Store in New York and the Centre Pompidou store in Paris.
Sheyn aims to break the stereotype that "3D printed objects are not beautiful." The two founders believe that with the right process, colors, shapes, and textures, truly beautiful creations are entirely possible. They treat technical constraints as creative challenges, using only FDM technology and working closely with different filament manufacturers—adjusting parameters based on color and batch to ensure flawless printing results.
Starting with early jewelry designs and officially debuting at Vienna Design Week 2020, Sheyn has gradually grown into an internationally recognized digital design studio. They firmly believe that 3D printing is the future of localized production. In the next five to ten years, they envision that everyone will be able to easily use a 3D printer to replicate designs at home, with digital rights management helping designers share their creations.
Sheyn proves with action: small-batch, sustainable, and beautiful 3D printed home decor is not a dream but a reality already entering our lives.
