Say Goodbye to Metal Powder! Korean Startup Launches Desktop Metal 3D Printing "Game-Changer"

At CES 2026, a Korean startup named MetalPrinting Inc. unveiled a potential game-changer: the Gauss MT90 metal 3D printer. Its standout feature is the replacement of traditionally messy metal powder with clean "Metal Ink," aiming to bring true metal fabrication into offices and labs.
The MT90 utilizes a unique Metal Paste Extrusion technology. This toothpaste-like "Metal Ink" is housed in proprietary, quickly swappable cartridges and can be printed at room temperature, requiring no laser or high-temperature melting equipment. This not only makes the machine quieter and safer but also significantly reduces shrinkage and deformation during the sintering process, potentially improving the accuracy of final parts.
The machine is extremely compact, with a build volume of just 85 x 85 x 60 mm, making it ideal for research labs or creating small prototypes. To enhance office-friendliness, it is also equipped with a carbon HEPA filtration system to improve air quality and filter out particles.
Its Gauss Ink material supports various metals including stainless steel, copper, titanium, and nickel, with options for custom alloys. Like all "indirect" metal 3D printing technologies, the printed "green" parts must be sintered in a dedicated furnace to achieve the full metallic properties of the final component.
The MT90 is primarily targeted at education, research, and industrial prototyping. The official price of the machine has not yet been announced, but a single stainless steel material cartridge is priced at $150. Channel information suggests the complete machine may cost between $25,000 and $50,000, though this has not been officially confirmed.
