At Formnext Asia Shenzhen, Xhorse3D introduced its second-generation desktop five-axis CNC machining center, the WM-100.

Its parent company, Xhorse Electronics, has annual revenue of over RMB 700 million (about US$97 million) and more than 500 R&D staff. It launched the project in 2019 and began independently operating Xhorse3D in 2025.

These upgrades are serious:

Dual water-cooling and air-cooling modes; titanium alloy, mold steel, and jade can all be machined.
Integrated 3D laser scanning automatically scans the blank and generates a model. This solves center-finding on irregular blanks and reduces over-cutting and tool crashes.
Ionized air removes static electricity, so chips no longer stick inside the machine enclosure.
A 130 kg die-cast aluminum body with reinforcing ribs gives rigidity close to cast iron.

AI CAM automatic programming: after importing an STP file, it automatically recognizes features and calculates toolpaths. Users only need to choose the cutting method and tool, then click confirm. It is powered by private cloud GPU compute.
Direct STP programming recognizes threads, holes, and other features, so it makes actual workpieces, not just models.
The WM-100 is priced at RMB 59,800 (about US$8,300), with an early-bird price available. More than 1,000 units have shipped, with over 10,000 users. It uses true five-axis RTCP, has repeat positioning accuracy of 0.01 mm, can self-calibrate 18 accuracy indicators in one minute, has a hidden six-station tool magazine, and has more than 97% China-localized content. The person in charge says a beginner can usually learn to operate it in half an hour.
3D printing solves freedom of shape, while desktop five-axis CNC adds freedom of material. Metal, wood, jade, glass—CNC can handle them all. Xhorse3D has brought industrial five-axis capability down to the desktop, so individual creators and small studios can make precision parts at home. This is a direction worth watching.
