KraussMaffei launches powerPrint Flex, a modular large-format 3D printing solution.

November 5, 2025 – German manufacturer KraussMaffei has launched the powerPrint Flex, a modular 3D printing solution for manufacturing large-format components and tools. Following the success of the enclosed powerPrint Plus 3D printing system, KraussMaffei now offers maximum flexibility with this robot-based manufacturing cell.
The newly introduced compact powerPrint Flex system offers maximum flexibility for various industrial needs. This system combines the company's proven extrusion technology with a modular architecture, providing manufacturers with a high degree of freedom in both design and materials. With the powerPrint Flex, production cells can be scaled and configured individually to meet specific customer requirements. Typical application areas include mold making, prototyping, furniture manufacturing, and customized solutions for the water and water supply infrastructure. In the foundry industry, using 3D printed patterns for the rapid and cost-effective manufacturing of molds can also significantly enhance production efficiency.

printCore 35-25

The standard configuration of the powerPrint Flex includes a Comau N-170 robot and offers various customization options. The print platform measures 2500 x 2000 mm, can be heated to a maximum of 180 °C, and features 16 vacuum zones for securing print plates. Equipped with KraussMaffei's proprietary printCore 35-25 extruder, the system achieves high throughput rates of 30 to 70 kg per hour, depending on the feeding system. With a maximum melt temperature of 400 °C, it can easily process even the most demanding fiber-reinforced thermoplastics and high-performance polymers. This makes the system suitable for the automotive and aerospace industries, mold making, and general industrial projects.

Flexible Integration

The powerPrint Flex uses the Siemens Sinumerik One CNC system to control the six-axis robot arm, enabling precise, dynamic, and consistently networked motion control. Thanks to its modular design, the powerPrint Flex can be integrated into existing manufacturing environments and can be expanded with additional functions, such as rotary tables or milling centers. The result is a fully functional solution perfectly tailored to specific production processes.
