Recently, two Chinese-made desktop 5-axis CNC machines blew up on Kickstarter at the same time, with both crowdfunding campaigns passing $1 million.

The M5 from IFMAKER in Shanghai, China, and the K1 from InfiMaker in Shenzhen, China, squeeze industrial-grade 5-axis capability into a desktop footprint, giving makers and small studios access to true 5-axis machining.
The M5 has raised about $1.047 million, more than 20 times its goal, with a super early-bird price of $5,299 and shipping set for December. It takes a rigidity-first approach: a 135 kg HT300 gray cast iron body, a 2.2 kW spindle, a top speed of 60,000 RPM, closed-loop liquid cooling, and RTCP real-time synchronization. Its 5-axis accuracy is ±0.06 mm, while 3-axis positioning accuracy is ±0.01 mm. IfCAM integrates CAD, CAM, and CNC into one workflow, with free lifetime updates and offline use, so users do not have to rely on paid software such as Fusion 360. Risks: this is the team’s first Kickstarter project, it has no shipping track record yet, and CE/FCC certification is not mentioned.
The K1 has raised about $3.978 million, more than 79 times its goal, with a super early-bird price of $5,199. It uses the Motinfi fully automatic 5-axis system, a cast one-piece bed, a 1,500 W spindle, and a top speed of 20,000 RPM. Positioning accuracy is 0.01 mm, travel is 120 × 120 × 120 mm, and it comes with a 6-slot automatic tool changer and a wireless Ruby probe. InfiStudio compresses the traditional CAM workflow into three steps, supports AI-generated toolpaths, and is compatible with mainstream CAM software such as Fusion 360 and Mastercam. It also uses a built-in camera to monitor four types of anomalies and supports resume cutting after interruption. It can machine titanium alloy, stainless steel, aluminum, hardwood, jade, and more, while high-pressure cooling extends tool life by 30%–50%. It has received investment from Kunlun Capital, IDG Capital, and others.
How to choose? If you want an AI-driven software ecosystem and support for hard materials, look at the K1. If you want a heavier body and high-power spindle rigidity, look at the M5. Neither has shipped yet, so whether the claimed 0.01 mm accuracy holds up over time and how after-sales service will work still need to be proven by first-batch user feedback. Desktop 5-axis CNC is moving from the factory floor to personal desktops.
