According to reports by Pawel Slusarczyk and Polish media, Signify (formerly Philips Lighting) is expanding its manufacturing operations in Poland by integrating large-scale industrial 3D printing technology at its Piła factory. This initiative aims to support the production of personalized and sustainable lighting fixtures across Europe. The company reports that this investment will create 150 new jobs and enhance the capability of its Signify myCreation brand to deliver customized lighting fixtures.
This move positions the Piła factory as a key hub for additive manufacturing within Signify's European operations. Signify states that 3D printing will shorten production cycles, reduce waste, and enable a more localized supply chain to meet the growing market demand for environmentally friendly and customized lighting solutions.

Personalized Production and Sustainability

Piążek stated, "The scalable application of 3D printing is not only an investment in the factory's future but also a step towards the modernization of the national manufacturing industry." He added that this expansion "will position Poland on the global map of advanced technologies."

Bart Maeyens, Signify's 3D Printing Director, described the technology as a "game-changer," noting that the new production method allows the company to produce "the exact number of units required by customers," thereby reducing overproduction and inventory costs.

Phased Rollout by 2026

The expansion is expected to bring technical and operational job opportunities to the Piła region, thereby boosting the local economy. Signify plans to collaborate with local institutions to support workforce development in the fields of advanced manufacturing and sustainable technologies.

The expansion will be carried out in phases, with the first 3D printing production lines becoming operational by December 2025. Additional product lines will be introduced in early 2026, with full production capacity expected by mid-2026. Once fully operational, the Piła factory will supply 3D-printed lighting products to both domestic and international markets.

Signify positions itself as a global leader in energy-efficient lighting systems and smart connected solutions. The company had previously piloted 3D printing technology in some of its smaller factories and is now expanding its application as part of a broader manufacturing strategy.
