In July 2026, the 2025 Shaanxi Provincial Science and Technology Awards were announced.

The project "Key Technologies and Equipment Applications for High-Safety, Wide-Temperature-Range Alkali Metal Batteries," jointly completed by the China Petroleum Engineering Materials Research Institute, Changqing Oilfield, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Southeast University, and Gaoneng Shuzao, won the second prize for scientific and technological progress.
This achievement directly addresses two major pain points in new energy storage: poor temperature adaptability under extreme climates, short cycle life, and prominent safety hazards. The team carried out full-chain research from materials to equipment, breaking through core technologies such as nanocrystal reorganization of composite solid-state electrolytes and gradient interface regulation, pushing battery energy density beyond 500 Wh/kg. They also developed intelligent automated preparation equipment that integrates new electrode manufacturing processes, which not only reduces energy consumption and production costs but also breaks foreign monopolies on equipment. The related solutions have already been applied in a "solar-storage" multi-energy complementary demonstration project at Changqing Oilfield, paving the way for large-scale green electricity utilization in high-altitude and high-latitude regions.
Gaoneng Shuzao took on the critical task of developing key manufacturing equipment in this project, covering the entire chain from precision electrode preparation, packaging optimization, to quality inspection, ensuring that cutting-edge technologies smoothly transition from the lab to production lines. Currently, the company has co-established an Advanced Energy Industry Research Institute with Xi'an Jiaotong University, and has set up joint laboratories with the National Graphene Innovation Center and Beijing Institute of Technology. More than 55% of its staff are R&D personnel, and its advisory team includes top scientists ranked among the world's top 2%.
It is worth mentioning that this award follows the team's previous win of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation Science and Technology Progress Award, marking a higher-level provincial recognition. Looking ahead, the team will continue to deepen its work in solid-state batteries and dry-electrode intelligent manufacturing, providing an integrated "equipment + process" solution to support the efficient and reliable upgrade of the new energy industry.
