Nanjing Hosts First RILEM Digital Concrete Conference Outside Europe

Southeast University’s October 24 report records more than 400 participants at the joint RILEM DC and 3DPCMS meeting, covering printable concrete, structures, equipment and standards.

More than 400 delegates attended a joint international conference on concrete digital fabrication and 3D printing in Nanjing from October 18 to 21, Southeast University reported on October 24. More than 200 participants came from overseas, according to the university.

The gathering combined the fifth RILEM International Conference on Concrete and Digital Fabrication with the sixth International Conference on 3D Printing Concrete Materials and Structures. Southeast University and RILEM jointly organized the event.

It was the first time the RILEM digital concrete conference had been held outside Europe. Professor Yamei Zhang’s team secured hosting rights at the preceding meeting in Munich, the university said.

The program covered digital construction design, printable concrete materials, structures, equipment, applications and standards. It included 10 plenary presentations, 22 invited talks, 192 contributed oral presentations and 36 posters. Doctoral courses and RILEM technical committee meetings preceded the main sessions.

The October 24 report documents a completed research gathering; it does not announce a new printer, commercial order or adopted technical standard.
