Formlabs announced Form Studio 1 on October 14, opening worldwide orders for a resin 3D printer starting at $699. The company says global shipping will begin on November 16, 2026, while its new Alpha Resins start at $29 per liter.

The launch broadens Formlabs’ desktop resin range toward users with smaller equipment budgets. The printer uses a Low Force Display-based engine with 28 LEDs and a lens array, delivering a stated light intensity of 6 mW/cm2. Its 35-micrometer pixel size is intended to support fine features. These are manufacturer specifications, rather than independent test results.

An integrated workflow

Formlabs lists automatic resin handling, a seven-inch touchscreen and remote monitoring among the features. Its product page specifies a build volume of 200 x 125 x 235 mm. An optional Resin Tank Pro supports third-party materials, according to the company.

Form Studio Wash+Cure combines washing and curing in one post-processing unit. Buyers should distinguish the printer’s starting price from the total cost of materials, post-processing equipment and optional accessories.

Availability and conditions

The Founder’s Edition is offered in graphite and three limited colors through November 30, 2026, or while supplies last. Formlabs says UL GREENGUARD Gold certification applies when the printer is used with Alpha Resins and the VOC Extractor.

For users comparing desktop resin systems, the launch adds another option at a lower entry price. Actual suitability will depend on material requirements, post-processing needs and independently verified performance.
