CeraFab Printer Successfully Scales Production of High-End Ceramic Medical Devices
This collaboration utilized the CeraFab S65 Medical printing system, making the scaled production of high-end ceramic medical devices a reality and further advancing the commercialization of ceramic 3D printing technology to an industrial-grade application level. This technology meets the stringent requirements of medical original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for precision and quality, marking another milestone in the marketization of custom ceramic devices.
The ATZ earpieces manufactured by CADdent using the CeraFab S65 Medical equipment feature wall thicknesses of less than 1 mm and dimensional tolerances controlled within ±50 microns, while retaining the complex internal channel structures necessary for optimal sound transmission. Thanks to the stress-free sintering process, the earpiece components can be formed without the need for support structures, even in highly fragile geometries, ensuring structural stability. Furthermore, the ceramic 3D printing process offers scalability for small-batch industrial production, with each build platform capable of producing up to 15 earpieces, effectively lowering the barrier to innovation.
This innovation successfully integrates four major advantages: the ultra-high acoustic precision brought by ATZ material, the hygienic properties of biocompatible ceramics, the design freedom enabled by 3D printing, and the precise repeatability guaranteed by LCM technology. This fusion ultimately achieves economic feasibility for providing personalized wearing comfort even under scaled industrial production.
In summary, this collaboration between OC GmbH and CADdent not only promotes the application of high-performance ceramic materials in the medical hearing aid earpiece field but also sets a new successful case for the innovation and marketization of 3D printed medical devices.
